Working at WobbleFly.
We are building a social platform that is meant to stay small, which is an unusual thing to spend your life on. If that sounds like a constraint rather than a bug, we should probably talk.
01Why WobbleFly
Social got bigger and less personal at the same time.
More people, less contact. More impressions, fewer conversations worth having. The platforms got extremely good at optimising for scale, and scale is not the thing anyone actually wants at eleven on a Tuesday.
WobbleFly is an attempt at the other thing: a place that behaves like a room rather than a market. That has a long list of consequences, and they are the actual job. A small product does not win by out-adding anyone. It wins by being well made, being kind, and refusing to grow past the point where it is still nice.
It is also genuinely hard. Most of what makes a platform feel good — moderation at small numbers, discovery that stays human, a feed that does not punish you for taking a week off — is work, not configuration. That work has to be done by people who find it interesting, which is what this page is about.
02What we care about
How we work
Ownership
Small team, wide leash. If you are the person who cares most about something, it is yours to do — including the parts nobody assigned you, and including deciding it was wrong.
Craft
We care about how a thing feels, not only whether it shipped. Typography, an empty state, the wording of an error — those are the product, not the polish on it.
Legibility
Write things down. Explain the reasoning, not only the conclusion. If a decision cannot be explained to the person affected by it, we have not finished deciding.
Restraint
The most valuable thing we can add to a small product is a smaller feature. Saying no is a skill, and it is the one we most want to hire for.
Care
There are people on the other side of this. We do not ship something that makes someone's day worse to hit a number, and we do not treat users as traffic.
Directness
Say the true thing kindly and early. Disagreement in the open, candour without theatre, no management-speak as a substitute for a decision.
03The work
Product, design, engineering, community.
It is a small team, so the boundaries between these are soft. Everyone talks to users. Everyone writes. Nobody here manages people instead of doing the work, and nobody here is a decision made in a room other people were not in.
Product
Deciding what WobbleFly should not do, and being able to explain why. Reading what people actually wrote rather than what the dashboard says they did.
Design
Type, layout, motion, and the unglamorous states — the empty feed, the failed upload, the message that never sent. Most of a product's quality lives in the parts that are not screens.
Engineering
A product people trust with their real lives, which is a different standard from one people try and leave. Performance on a bad connection is a feature. So is the absence of tracking.
Community
Reading reports, making judgement calls, and being honest with people who are upset. It is the hardest job here and the one we care most about getting right.
04Responsible technology
Privacy and safety are the product, not a policy.
We are not going to build an advertising business, which means we do not need a dossier on anyone. The absence of tracking is a decision we get to keep making, and everyone here is responsible for keeping it.
That also means a different relationship with attention. There is no engagement objective in this building, so nobody is being measured on how long people stay. It is an unusual constraint and it is the whole point.
If you want a career spent increasing engagement, this will not be it, and we would both know within a month. If you want to spend it on whether a product deserves to be trusted, it is a good fit.
05Open roles
We don’t have any confirmed openings to list right now.
But we’re always interested in hearing from thoughtful builders — people who care about craft and restraint, and who would rather make something considered than something loud.
When a role does open, it will be listed on this page with the salary band attached, the level stated plainly, and the actual work described rather than abstracted. We will not ask anyone to work speculatively, and we will not recruit through a process that takes months.
Don’t see a role?
Send us something anyway. A short note about what you have built and what you think we are getting wrong is more useful to us than a polished application. There is no application form, and there is no keyword filter.

The rest of WobbleFly is here in the meantime — the product, the Wave product, and the people behind it.
